Local buses that go into the village of Hopkins stop for the most right by Crash Pad Adventure Hostel however those run only a few times as day. Buses that instead stop at the "Hopkins Junction" by the Southern Highway are much more frequent. From there there is 4 miles/6 km left to get to Hopkins. Take a taxi from the "Hopkins Junction" or hitchhike to reach us.
Get to Hopkins by Bus and/or Taxi
From Phillip Goldson International Airport
There are no buses, only taxis, that leave the airport. A taxi to the bus station in Belize City center runs $35 USD.
From Dangriga (DGA)
Monday through Saturday:
- 10:30 AM and 5:15 PM - Direct buses to Hopkins, stops right in front of Crash Pad Adventure Hostel ($5 BZD)
- 2:30 PM - Ritche's Bus Service to Placencia (stops in Hopkins on the way, $5 BZD)
💡 Best Alternative: Take hourly buses (every 2nd hour on Sunday) between Dangriga - Independence - Punta Gorda, ask to be dropped at "Hopkins Junction" then taxi ($10 USD/$20 BZD) or hitchhike 4 miles into Hopkins.
Another option: Bebb Bus Line runs between Dangriga and Placencia with a stop at the main intersection in Hopkins village, from there walk 7 min south to us. Departs Dangriga at 5:30 AM and 8:30 AM.
Direct taxi: Dangriga to Hopkins ($100-120 BZD)
From Belize City and Belmopan
James Bus Line runs hourly from Belize City - Belmopan - Dangriga - Independence - Punta Gorda and more upscale Floralia runs the same distance bi-hourly. Ask to be dropped off at the "Hopkins Junction" between Dangriga and Independence and grab a taxi ($10 USD/$20 BZD) or hitchhike the last 4 miles into Hopkins.
💡 Tip: At 10:30 AM and 5:15 PM there is a bus leaving Dangriga direct to Hopkins. If you reach Dangriga to fit any of these buses, we recommend to change buses here rather than proceeding to the "Hopkins Junction" as you will save yourself the taxi trip into Hopkins.
From San Ignacio
Several bus lines run every 30 min from San Ignacio - Belmopan - Belize City. Change buses in Belmopan and see above for further instructions how to get from Belmopan to Hopkins.
From Placencia
Ritches Bus runs from Placencia to Dangriga via Hopkins and stops right in front of Crash Pad Adventure Hostel. Departs Placencia at 7:00 AM.
Bebb Bus Line runs between Placencia and Dangriga with a stop at the main intersection in Hopkins village, from there walk 7 min south to us. Departs Placencia at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
Richie's Bus Lines runs between Placencia and Dangriga with no stop at the "Hopkins Junction". From the Hopkins Junction grab a taxi ($10 US) or hitchhike the last 4 miles into Hopkins. Departs Placencia 6:15, 7:00 AM, 12:45 PM, 2:30 PM.
From Punta Gorda
James Bus Line runs hourly from Punta Gorda - Independence - Dangriga - Belmopan - Belize City. Ask to be dropped off at the "Hopkins Junction" which runs between Independence and Dangriga, then grab a taxi or hitchhike the last 4 miles into Hopkins.
Get to Hopkins by Shuttle
Shuttle services are not as widely common as in other locations like Guatemala. If you are at least 2 people you should be able to find a door-to-door shuttle service straight from Belize City's Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport to Hopkins for $85 USD/pp. The journey will take approximately 2h.

Get to Hopkins by Plane
If you fly into Belize City's Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), the easiest way to get to Hopkins is with a domestic 15 minute flight to the nearby town Dangriga (DGA). There are about 8 departures daily with each airline Tropic Air or Maya Island Air. The cost starts from $59.00 USD.
If you are coming from the islands San Pedro or Caye Caulker with the water taxi you can opt to take a 15 min plane from the Municipal Airport (TZA) in Belize City to Dangriga (DGA). The flight runs as low as $45 USD if you strike a low fare.
Once in Dangriga (DGA): You can either take a taxi or a bus to Hopkins (see bus instructions above).
Important Travel Tips
- Timing is crucial: Make sure you reach well before dark to be able to successfully catch a ride into Hopkins when using the Hopkins Junction option.
- Sunday travel: No buses run in and out of Hopkins on Sundays - plan accordingly!
